美国洛杉矶时间2002年2月27日晚17:30(北京时间28日上午9:30)，第44届格莱美奖颁奖仪式在美国洛杉矶Staples Center举行。女歌手阿丽西亚-凯斯(Alicia Keys)获得包罗“更佳新人”、“更佳RB女歌手”、“年度更佳歌曲”在内的五个奖项，成为本届格莱美的更大赢家。老牌乐队U2紧跟其后，获得包罗“年度更佳唱片”、“更佳时髦乐队”在内的四个奖项。
华人音乐家在本届格莱美也获得了不俗的功效，谭盾创做的《卧虎躲龙》，一举战胜《人工智能》等，夺得了更佳影视原创音乐专辑。汤沐海批示，吉他吹奏家伊丝宾与葡萄牙古本江交响乐团协做吹奏的吉他协奏曲获得更佳古典音乐协奏曲奖。那个吉他协奏曲由谭盾和鲁斯配合创做。
